History, Her Story, Our Story

Inspirational Women Who Shaped Our World

For far too long, high school history text books have been overloaded with the stories of great men from history. The only problem is, our classrooms are made up of 50% girls and these young women are subconsciously learning that their stories are not worth telling.

Kelly Chase is determined to change this gender inequality that is prevalent in history text books the world over.

In History, Her Story, Our Story: Inspirational Women Who Shaped Our World, Kelly shares stories of more than 24 incredible women from history. She also shares ideas on how history teachers can create an environment where all students feel that they are being represented in the stories that are shared in the classroom.

These stories align to the Australian Curriculum and many global curricula and teachers will be able to share and reflect upon these stories with their classes.

Kelly’s conversational tone makes the narratives of these women accessible to high school students and she provides a list of vocabulary for teachers to include in their lessons with students. This book will help you ensure that future generations of girls will know that it is possible to make history because they have experienced classrooms where women’s contributions are recognised on a par with the stories of men.

History, Her Story, Our Story is now available!
